    After serving in the United States Army, Al graduated from North Dakota State University in Grand Forks, North Dakota and returned to Grand Rapids, Minnesota, where he worked as the supervisor of the Water and Sewer Department of Grand Rapids Public Utilities for the past twenty-seven years.

    He was an active member of the Eagles Club, serving as president in 1967-1968 and 1986-1987, was Eagle of the Year in 1969-1970 and was a Ritual Team member and a state Ritual Team judge. He served as the State Eagles President in 1976-1977. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, the American Legion Post, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, all of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

    Al was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Russell O'Dowd. He is survived by two sons, Timothy and Paul; seven sisters, Bernice Stewart, Ailene DeBaugh, Marion Melius, Mildred Karg, Rose Cechini, Dee Proctor, and Trudy Markuson; four brothers, Neil Edoff, Ray Merrill, Carl Edoff, and Lorence Edoff.

    Al died at Itasca Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-G-15-1-3)
