    He grew up in Little Falls, Minnesota, where he attended school through his junior year, played baseball for the Little Falls Flyers, and participated in Golden Gloves boxing.

    His family moved to Anoka and he graduated from high school at Anoka, Minnesota.

    Allan married Jo Anne Henry on August 16, 1969, in Mound, Minnesota.

    Allan owned and operated, consecutively, three hardware stores in Plymouth, Ramsey and Elk River, Minnesota, retiring to Johnson Lake, north of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gladys Empey, Jean Palmer, and Pat Adriaens; and brothers, Ronald, Larry, and Jack.

    Allan is survived by his wife, Jo Anne; sons, Peter and Jason; two grandchildren; brothers, Bill and Jim; sister, MaryKay Ricker; numerous nephews, nieces and their families.

    Allan died at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota and is buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. No photo of grave marker is available at this time.
