Anthony Metzer returned to Minnesota following his military service and worked for Butler Taconite. In 1988 he moved to Aurora, Minnesota and worked for LTV Mining Company. He married Michelle Tekautz in Minnesota on 1990. He worked as a mason for Mesabi Masonry in Aurora at the time of his death. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and carpentry to the extent of building his own home. He was a member of the Iron Cross Motorcycle Club.
Tony died in Duluth, Minnesota and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, Minnesota (Block 65). He is survived by his wife, Michelle; children, Christopher, Kristina, Matthew and Jessa Metzer; his mother, Doris (Harold Meintsma) Metzer; three grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Georgiann) Metzer, Julie (Kurt) Fondrick, Mitzi (Andy) Gregg, and Mariann Metzer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and aunts. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank in 2003; his sister, Patricia Ann in 1957; his grandparents; and cousins, uncles and an aunt.
