    Arnold was a United States Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Campaign. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star as well as numerous other honors.

    Arnold and Bertha Anderson were married on January 12, 1946 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

    He had worked in the Danube Mine, had been a custodian for the Greenway School District, a foreman for Cone Construction, and worked for Evergreen Industries.

    Arnold had been a member of the Bethel-Trinity Lutheran Church of Bovey, Minnesota and had served on the Lawrence Township Board in Itasca County, Minnesota for many years.

    Arnold loved the outdoors, was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed camping and gardening.

    His wife, Bertha, preceded him in death in 1986.

    Survivors include his children, Bert (Kirby) Williams, Phyllis (Daniel) Dwyer, Carolyn (Roger) Leeseberg, and Susan Eckert; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Amy Johnson; many nieces and nephews, special people, Kathy Brown and Ken and Ann Poore, and numerous friends.

    Arnold died in his home in Marble, Minnesota and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery at Coleraine, Minnesota. (Block 140)
