Conta, who is now stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station in St. Louis, MO, writes a letter to Mrs. Gould of Coleraine. “I wish to thank you, and the Coleraine Service Men’s Club for the lovely card and the gift. It’s very thoughtful of you and you can bet the fellas sure appreciate it. It’s hard to believe that Bill is a grown up man now. I remember him as just a little fella. I hope to hear that Jim will soon be back. The weather here is very much like Minnesota’s weather. Keep up the good work you’re doing for the service men, and I hope it will be soon that we can all thank you personally. Yours truly, Arthur J. Conta.”

Newspaper article: Dec 1945 – “Servicemen’s Club: I received your lovely Christmas gifts, and I want to thank you for your consideration. Every man in our outfit thought it was very nice that the hometown sent Christmas gifts such as those to the boys. They also liked the pictures of our beautiful woods. I’m sure northern Minnesota will have a lot of new tourists. I sincerely hope that all of you have a ‘Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year’. Sincerely yours, Arthur J. Conta, AM 3/c.”
