Barbara was raised and attended schools in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Staples, Minnesota.
After her discharge, she married Donald Edson on August 20, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They lived in Edina and Brooklyn Center, Minnesota until 1957 when they moved to Missouri and then to Houghton, Michigan. They came to Grand Rapids in 1968 and operated the Americana Motel until their retirement in 1973.
Barbara was an associate member of First Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and the United Presbyterian Women. She belonged to Jepthah Chapter 176 Order of Eastern Star in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. She was active in the Edson Genealogy Association of Boston.
Survivors are her husband, Donald; daughters, Dr. Belle Edson and Mary Edson; brothers, Phillip Hoxter, Jerald Hoxter, and William Glockner.
Barbara died at her home and is buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Plot X.O.3868). No grave marker available at this time.
