After serving in the Marine Corps during World War II, Frank married Donna Venaas on February 12, 1949. They made their home in Keewatin, Minnesota, where he worked for the Hanna Mining Company as a welder in both Butler Taconite in Cooley, Minnesota and National Steel mines when Butler Taconite closed. He worked in mining for 44 years.
He was a member of the Keewatin VFW and the Hibbing Elks Lodge.
He enjoyed bowling in the Hibbing bowling leagues and on reflecting on his life, was very proud that he was able to bring his wife to Hawaii, in fulfillment of a promise made as newlyweds.
Bernard is survived by daughters, Susan Dergantz and Connie (Larry) Korth; brothers, Floyd (Ruby) and Jerry (Wanda); three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, in 1993; and by his parents.
Bernard died as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
