Brian attended schools in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and Fargo, North Dakota.
He worked for Great Lakes Pipeline, which eventually became Williams Brothers Pipeline for forty years. He retired in 1987.
Brian married Gloria Lien on June 19, 1948 in Fargo, North Dakota.
Brian moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1960 and was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
Brian is survived by his wife; sons, Gary and Dale; daughter, Cheryl (Mrs. Wayne) Coble; four grandchildren, five brothers; and one sisters. He is preceded in death by one brother.
