    Carl lived in Missouri as a child. Returning to Grand Rapids, Minnesota at age 13, he completed his schooling here.

    Following his discharge from the United States Army during World War II, he returned to Grand Rapids, Minnesota and was married to Olive L. Thompson on September 26, 1943.

    He worked thirty-six years as a mechanic and bus driver for School District 318, retiring in 1980. For the past seven years he was employed at Rowe Funeral Home.

    Carl was a member of Itasca Masonic Lodge 208, Pokegama Chapter Royal Arch Masons, and the North Star Shrine Club, all of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; Quadna Chapter 249 Order of Eastern Star in Hill City, Minnesota, Aad Temple Shrine of Duluth, Minnesota and the El Kanah Commandery Post 30 of Bemidji, Minnesota. He was currently serving as district representative of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Minnesota.

    Carl is survived by his wife, Olive; sisters, Sarah Ellen Gooch and Fern Adey; and a brother, Clarence.

    Carl died at his home and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-E-30-1-1)
