    Charlie moved to Bigfork, Minnesota at the age of three with his family and to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1940.

    He worked for the State of Minnesota and Itasca County road department and Hawkinson Construction from 1946 until retirement as superintendent in 1976. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church for 55 years where he served as trustee. He was a member of the Grand Rapids Fire Department and Cap Baker Lions Club of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He was an avid outdoorsman.

    Preceded in death by his wife, Amber, in 1986, son, Jay, in 1987, and brother William, surviving relatives include sons; Charles "Mike", George, Stephen; daughters, Barbara Bullock, Amber Goldstein, Nancy Kandle, Patricia McCarty; special friend, Harriet Harder; brother Ty; twenty-six grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
