    Charlie was raised at Frazee, Minnesota.

    He was united in marriage to Goldie E. Heick at Frazee, Minnesota on January 24, 1920 where they lived a short time. They moved to Calumet, Minnesota, where they lived for 63 years. They were known as the oldest living couple in Calumet before moving to Pleasant Seasons in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

    Charlie retired in 1959 as Master Mechanic at the Hill Annex Mine in Calumet, Minnesota after years of employment.

    He was a 50 member of the American Legion in Marble, Minnesota. He was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marble, Minnesota. Before his death he was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

    Charlie was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Erma Elizabeth and a son, Henry, during World War II at St. Lo, France.

    Survivors are his wife, Goldie; one daughter, Jeanne (Stanley) Wozniak; one son, Charles "Pat" (Franceil) Deutsch, Jr.; three sisters, Katherine Carl, Erma Knox, and Elizabeth Deutsch; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

    Charlie died at Itasca Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery at Coleraine, Minnesota.
