Clark served in the United States Navy during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He retired from the Navy in 1966 and served 13 years in Civil Service with the United States Air Force retiring in 1980.

Clark married Lylas R. Smith in Carmichael, California on February 17, 1979. He lived in Sacramento, California while he worked in sales and repair of cash registers in San Jose for several years. He then worked for Holiday Inn as chief engineer in Sacramento for several years until moving to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1995. In Grand Rapids, he worked for NAPA Auto Parts and then the Sawmill Inn for several years, until retiring in October, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Lylas; daughter Debbie; step-daughter Diane (Fritz Wanner) Jackson; step-son Duane (Lori) Jackson; three brothers, Kyle, James, and Don; and seven grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a son, Dennis, and a sister, Barbara Grimm.
Buried in Harris Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot 3.21.2.2)
