Clifford Mattson was a life-long resident of Trout Lake Township. He married Joyce Anderson in Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1936. He worked in the parts department of Itasca Motors in Coleraine, and had been a custodian in the J.C. Penney Store in Grand Rapids. He was a former member of the Canisteo Lodge A.F. & A.M., the Itasca Lodge No. 208 A.F. & A.M. and the Grand Rapids American Legion.
Cliff died in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in the Trout Lake Community Cemetery, Bovey, Minnesota (Block 11). He is survived by his wife, Joyce; a son, Terry Mattson; a daughter, Vickie Erickson; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Eugene, Harry, and Charlie; and a sister, May Snyder.
