Clifton married Anna Davis on July 6, 1940, in Deer River, Minnesota, where they resided most of their lives.
Cliff worked as a farmer, miner, heavy equipment operator on village maintenance and as school custodian before being employed by the VFW 2720, where he spent many hours sharing philosophies on life with friends and family.
Cliff served with the Deer River Vets Honor Guard.
Cliff was a member of the American Legion, Sportman's Club, and volunteered for numerous community activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Arnold and Clarence; a sister, Ellyne Cates; and a daughter, Sharon.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; sons, Larry and Ed (Phyllis); daughters, Kathy (Don) Masterson, Connie (Ray) Erola, Gayle Erickson, Anita (Wayne) Thompson, Sandie Erickson, and Adriane (Dale) Benham; a brother, Waldo (Irene) Erickson; a sister, Edith (Charles) Shock; twenty-two grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Cliff died at home with his family and is buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery at Deer River, Minnesota.
