Curtis served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1974 and was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey and Fort Knox, Kentucky.

The family moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1953.
Curt lived for many years in Minneapolis, Minnesota working in the hospitality and advertising industries. He moved back to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 2007 and had been employed at Ruttgers-Sugar Lake Lodge and Timberlake Lodge.
Curt enjoyed fishing and heavy metal rock concerts.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Emerald Foss.
He is survived by his sisters, Linda Foss and Barbara (Rodney) Roushar; a brother, Craig (Barbara); one niece; two nephews; and longtime friend, Brian Webster.
Curt passed away after a long illness. No services were held at the time of his death and he was cremated.
