Dale entered the United States Navy in 1951 and was honorably discharged from active duty in 1955.

Dale married Maridel M. Baker on December 15, 1956. The couple made their home in Rochester, Minnesota where he was employed as a foreman for Water Conley for eleven yeas. Thereafter he worked as a laborer and foreman for various construction companies until his retirement in 1992.
After retirement, Maridel and Dale moved to rural Cohasset, Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife, Maridel; four children, Julie Walker, Terry Glarner, Lynn Kroening, and Bonnie Lehnertz; a brother, Charles; a sister, Shirley Hall; and eight grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Virgil.
Dale died at his home in Cohasset, Minnesota. Memorial services were held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minnesota. Dale is buried in the family cemetery in Cohasset.
