    Delano was raised in Deer River, Minnesota.

    On May 4, 1957, Delano married Florence Cartwright. Together they raised three girls and two boys.

    For many years, Delano was Gideon chaplain and was ordained as a pastor in 2003. He led Bible studies for many years and was a great Bible scholar. He truly loved all people; he also loved music and could play almost any instrument. Delano was president of Full Gospel Businessmen International in Grand Rapids for several years. In 1972, he designed, built, and owned Gibbs Wild Rice Company in Deer River, Minnesota. He operated the wild rice plant for 21 years. He also served as a delegate for the Republican Party in Itasca County.

    Delano is survived by his wife, Florence; two daughters, Cindy (Steve) Hughes, Sandy (Jim) Surface, and Lori (Scott) Benke; sons, Steve (Mary) and Robert (Gale); eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

    Delano was preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as his five brothers; Stafford, William, Stanley, Jr., Gordon, and twin brother, Darrow; and two sisters, LaDonna Korpela and Ramona Donnell.

    Delano died at Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Olivet Cemetery at Deer River, Minnesota. No photo of grave marker is available at this time.
