Don was raised and attended school in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
He was united in marriage to Marcella Grosse on November 13, 1939 in Fond du Lac and they were married 73 years.
Don worked for J. C. Penney for 33 years and in 1966 he came to Grand Rapids where he served as manager until his retirement in 1978.
Don was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Cap Baker Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Don was instrumental in starting the curling club in Grand Rapids. He was very active in the community and was loved by many. As a young man, Don was involved in boxing. He was very proud of being a Golden Glove boxing champion. He was a very active fisherman and kept a journal of all his trips.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert; sister, Margaret Litturno; brother, John; and son-in-law, Richard LaPlant.
He is survived by his wife, Marcella; three daughters, Mary (Donald) Ross, Debra LaPlant, and Donna (Thomas, Sr.) Kriskovich; two sons, Jim and Tom; seventeen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special niece, LuAnn.
Don is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-G-17-02)
