    Donald enlisted in the United States Army and served three years in the military.

    Donald grew up and attended school in Cincinnati, Ohio.

    Following his discharge, he worked as a police officer in Cheviot, Ohio for three years. He later worked 23 years as a deputy sheriff serving as a crime prevention officer for three of those years and was an expert marksman earning numerous awards with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department in Hamilton County, Cincinnati, Ohio. He obtained the rank of Sergeant.

    In 1975, Donald moved to Squaw Lake, Minnesota where he owned and operated a resort. He later owned the Thunderbird Lodge in International Falls for four years. He also was a co-owner of a resort on Leech Lake for the last 18 years. Donald was Police Officer of the Year in 1978 and from 1991 to 1999 he was a police liaison officer at Grand Rapids High School in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

    Donald is survived by his wife, Patti; two sons, Donnie (Peggy) and Danny (Sharon); two daughters, Holly (Mark) Ash and Ginger (Mike) Bonham; a brother, Frank; and eleven grandchildren.

    Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers.

    Donald died at his home on Leech Lake. He is buried in St. Joseph New Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. No photo of grave marker is available at this time.
