    After graduated, Donald served in the Merchant Marine for two years, before joining the United States Army, serving for 22 years and retiring as an E-7 in 1968.

    Donald was raised in Ft. Wayne, Indiana where he graduated from high school.

    After serving in the military, Don worked for the State of Minnesota as a job placement representative for veterans.

    Because of his military career, Donald lived in many locations but lived most of his life in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, St. Paul, Minnesota and Balsam Township in rural Bovey, Minnesota since 1978.

    Donald was an Itasca County foster parent and a volunteer driver for AEOA.

    He is survived by his wife, Gertrude "Trudy"; two daughters, Dawn (Michael) Thomas and Dianna (Theodore) Pervin; one brother, Wayne; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

    Donald died at his home and is buried in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Section 16 Site 824)
