Lieutenant Clifford is serving as assistant post exchange officer at Bogue Field. She was trained for this assignment at the Post Exchange School in Washington, D.C. in a two month extensive course. Newspaper article: Itasca Iron News, Coleraine, Minnesota - Jan 1946 – Doris Clifford is again a civilian. She writes. “Four days ago I became a ‘civilian’ again, and I want to tell all of you that there hasn’t been anything in the two years that I spent in the service that could take the place of your thoughtfulness and remembrances. All you did set Coleraine apart as an unusual town of unusual folks, for nowhere else showed their people in the service as you did what those at home were thinking and doing. A mere “thank you” can’t express what I feel, but I appreciate all of it more than I can say.”
