    Douglas served as a radioman on a diesel submarine stationed in San Diego, California for four years.

    Upon his return to Des Moines, Iowa, Doug attended United Electronics Institute and was employed at a variety of jobs including HM Fitch Construction Company and Firestone.

    In the early 1990's he moved to northern Minnesota, a placed he considered heaven on earth. During his years in "God's Country" he enjoyed many outdoor activities, countless game nights with friends and family, various handy man jobs, and being a caregiver, primarily for his father-in-law, Bill Lesar.

    Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Morris and Charlotte Mae Fitch; and a brother, Steven Fitch.

    Doug is survived by his wife, Theresa; four children, Dawn (Ed) Frederiksen, Catherine "Cammie" Fitch, Chris (Kelly) Fitch; and Brad (Amanda) Fitch; six grandchildren; three brothers, Denny, Dave, and Marty; two sisters, Barbie Wirth and Kay Larsen; and countless nieces and nephews.

    Douglas died at his home in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and was cremated.
