    Peter served two years of military service as an optometrist at William Beaumont Army Hospital in El Paso, Texas.

    Peter was the seventh son of Helen and Thomas Gibbons.

    Peter opened his optometric practice in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and continued his practice for 36 years.

    He married Mary Jo Gagnon in 1960 and raised a family of two sons and two daughters on Bass Lake north of Cohasset, Minnesota.

    Since childhood, Peter spent time every summer at Osakis, Minnesota, with the extended Gibbons clan. He enjoyed many years of bass fishing and hunting with his family and friends. Peter loved watching wildlife, especially the deer and loons on Bass Lake.

    He is preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and a son-in-law, Steve Thorpe.

    Peter is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; two daughters, Renee' and Michele; two sons, Dr. Michael (Ann) Gibbons and Dr. Thomas (Cami) Gibbons; two sisters, Mary Deluca and Veronica James; two sisters-in-law, Jean Gibbons and Shirley Gibbons; and two grandchildren.

    Peter died at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Wildwood Cemetery at Cohasset. (Plot c44e12)
