    William work as a research scientist at the Hercules Chemical Company, in Wilmington, Delaware before serving his country.

    Dr. Forsman entered the Ph.D. program at the University of Pennsylvania after his honorable discharge, and received his doctorate in physical chemistry from the University in 1961.

    Dr. Forsman was a distinguished scientist in the field of polymer science, having joined the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania in 1963 and retiring in 1994 as professor, chemical and biomolecular engineering. He was the author, co-author and contributing author of numerous books and published research papers, and the holder of several patents.

    Dr. Forsman's greatest love was his family, hosting and entertaining his children and grandchildren every summer at his cabin on Deer Lake.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Jane Chandler Forsman in 2002.

    Dr. Forsman is survived by his four children, Ellen Thomas, Beth Nanis, William, Jr., and Ann Adams; and ten grandchildren.

    His cremains are in Swarthmore Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden at Swarthmore, Pennsylvania.
