In 1962, following his discharge, Duane started working for the J & L Mine in Aurora-Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota for a total of 33 years in the mines.
He worked for the United States Postal Service in Grand Rapids, Minnesota as a rural mail carrier until his death.
Duane was a member of the American Legion Club in Lawrence Lake, Minnesota, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the VFW Club in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. His hobbies included hunting, camping, and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald "Adam" in 1994, his father, Harvey in 1970; and two brothers, Donald in 1975 and Dale in 1996.
He is survived by his mother, Genevieve ; a daughter, Rhonda (Tim) Trefethren; a special friend, Barb Beckers; a brother Delwyn (Sue); a grandson Jeramy Trefethren; and his nephews.
Duane died in Henning, Minnesota and is buried in Harris Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot 1.6.3.?)
