    Earl served in the United States Army during World War II as a medic from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945.

    On February 14, 1948, Earl was united in marriage to Agnes Dahlgren in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He was a longtime employee of Butler Mining Company, retiring in 1980.

    Earl was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Grand Rapids Gun Club, and the National Rifle Association. Throughout the years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

    He is survived by many nieces and nephews and two cousins.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Agnes, and a brother, Bill.
