Earl entered the United States Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.

Earl was born in Mankato, Minnesota and moved to Rochester, Minnesota at the age of three. Following school, he worked as a cook in Rochester, Minnesota.
Following his discharge in 1945, Earl moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and was employed as a cook and bartender at the Andrews Hotel until his retirement in 1974 when he moved to Bigfork, Minnesota.
He married Ellen Knutson on August 11, 1964, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Earl was a member of the Bigfork Veterans of Foreign Wars of Bigfork, Minnesota, Marcell Senior Citizens group of Marcell, Minnesota and was a past member of Cooks and Waiters Union of Minnesota and the Bartenders Union of Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen and a sister, Eleanora Burbank.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Marie (Anderson) Wolfe.
Earl died at Northern Itasca Health Care Center in Bigfork, Minnesota and is buried at Bigfork, Minnesota.
