Ed worked in social services most of his life and served as director of social services in Chippewa County, Swift County, Aitkin County and most recently in Itasca County, Minnesota. He retired in 1985.

Ed lived in Grand Rapids, Minnesota since 1969. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and a longtime Lutheran Social Services board member.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Kristin Yattaw and Julie Grzybowski; two sons, Donald and David; two sisters, Mary Wold and Lois Amundson; and five grandchildren.

Ed died in Itasca Medical Center at Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Cremation followed the funeral service.
