    Ellen Elizabeth Erickson, 94, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at her home in Cupertino, Calif. She was born on Nov. 4, 1923, in Grand Rapids to James and Pauline (Hoey) Hagen.
    She grew up and attended school in Grand Rapids. She joined the WAVES during World War II and was stationed in Alameda, Calif. Ellen married Donald Vernon Erickson on September 18, 1948. After he graduated from the University of Minnesota, in 1951, they made their home in Virginia. She was a long-time member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and of the Eshquaguma Country Club, where she won the women’s club championship several times. After retirement, they spent winters in Las Vegas, and summers at their cabin at Lake Eshquaguma. In 2008, she moved to northern California to be near her son’s family.
    She is survived by her son, Bob Erickson, her daughter-in-law, Sally, and two grandsons, Nicholas and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband; by four siblings, Mary, John, Anna Mae and George; and by two daughters, Sharon and Jean.
