Elmer is survived by five daughters; Marilyn Hahne, Gayle Nelsen, Sharron Capece, Judy Jensen, and Alanna Strand; his mother, Mary; three sisters, Evelyn Mackie, Agnes Bouvette, and Shirley Albertson; four brothers, Ralph, Wallace, John, and Donald; fourteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Elmer died at Itasca Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-C-31-2-2)
