Erven Rahier was a member of the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) prior to entering the military. He married Oralee Volk in Bigfork, Minnesota in 1947. He was a self-employed logger in the Effie, Minnesota area for many years. He was a member of the Effie Presbyterian Church, the Bigfork VFW and American Legion, and was an avid outdoorsman.
Erven died in Bigfork, Minnesota and is buried in the Bigfork Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Oralee; sons, John W., Dale M., and Darrell L.; one daughter, Donna M. Thomas; a brother Milo; six sisters, Mae Kendall, Grace Cormican, Jean Johnson, Lenora Rahier, Shirley Romnes, and Gloria Durkee; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Lyle, in 1971.
