Eugene LaFrenierre married Yvonne West in Minnesota in 1953. He was a teacher for School Districts 316 and 318 in Itasca County. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Itasca Ski & Outing Club. He was a USSA Nordic Ski Jumping judge.
Gene died in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, Minnesota (Block 30). He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; four sons, Raymond A., Ronald T., Richard N., and Robert J.; one daughter, Karen Haywood; three brothers, Verdell, Earl, and Robert; two sisters, Mildred Schwartz and Lucille Powers; and three grandchildren.
