Everett entered the United States Army in 1943. He served in the 27th Combat Engineers until being honorably discharged in 1946. He participated in the New Guinea, South Philippines Liberation, and Luzon Campaigns.

Everett attended school in Grand Rapids, Minnesota before entering the United States Army.
On April 18, 1953, he married Mavis Black in Grand Rapids. He worked at Blandin Paper Company and the Joyce Estate before moving to Red Wing, Minnesota in 1958. He retired from ADM Milling in 1981 and worked a short time at the Red Wing Pottery Mall.
Everett was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Red Wing, Minnesota. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling and telling his "Grandpa jokes".
Everett was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis; three children, Lynn (David) Jensen, Alan, and Paul; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Joseph (Ruth) and Roger; and one sister, Beverly (William) Baker.
Everett died at Fairview Seminary Home in Red Wing, Minnesota. He is buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Section 26, Site 2396)
