Ferdinand Meier was raised and attended school in Perham, Minnesota. He came to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1937 from that city and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. After service he returned to Grand Rapids and worked in the construction industry in the area and retired in the late 1960s. He married Mary Tobeck in 1958 in Grand Rapids.
Ferdinand died at his home in Grand Rapids and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine, Minnesota (Block 30). He is survived by his wife, Mary; seven sisters, Emma Peck, Tina Houve, Lena Faber, Esther Dickman, Pauline Reick, Millie Werp, and Elsie Park; and numerous nieces and nephews.
