Mr. Kostka grew up in the Chicago, Illinois area and worked for Hart, Schaffner and Marx for 50 years, retiring in 1962. He moved to Grand Rapids at that time and owned a small farm on the River Road.

Surviving relatives included a niece and three nephews.
