Floyd grew up and attended school in Elkader, Iowa.
He moved to Chicago, Illinois and Rochester, Minnesota, working as an Osco Drug manager.
Floyd came to Grand Rapids, Minnesota and married Dolly (Sumerfelt) Jackson on June 14, 1969.
They operated Kamp Kerr Resort on Big Bass Lake. Floyd worked as Itasca County Assessor for many years. He retired in 1999 and had a great retirement, traveling, gardening and enjoying his family, especially his great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Grand Rapids.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by two children, Lorraine Shideler and Gary Jackson; a grandson, David Shideler; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Jackson.
Floyd is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Dolly; six children, Philip Jackson, Debbie Larson, Mike (Wendy) French, Suzzie (Bill) Scherf, Mark French, Marrianne (Kevin) Hanson; two sons-in-law, Rick Larson and Bob Shideler; siblings, Arlene Lowe, Clara Mae Heck, Ralph, Kenneth, Dale, and Dean; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and close family friend, Chastyn Larson.
Floyd died at his home and is buried in Wildwood Cemetery at Cohasset, Minnesota. (Plot c32)
