Fred was raised in Wabosso, Minnesota.
After military service, he relocated to Eagen, Minnesota and then to Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and then to his final home in Effie, Minnesota in 2000.
Fred retired from Ainsworth in 2008. He was an active member of the Effie American Legion and for twelve years he attended St. Ann Catholic Church in Blackduck, Minnesota.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, Christian and brother, Jerry.
He is survived by his mother, Helen; wife, Karen; sons, Tim, Scott, and Brian; stepdaughters, Stephanie Carter and Greta Drewlow; brothers, Don and Robert; sisters, Shirley Heiling, Josie Pelzel, and Susie Walker; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Fred died at his home in Effie. He was cremated.
