Gary grew up in Itasca County attending Greenway Schools.
On September 1, 1962 he was married to CloReon Nessler in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Following his discharge from the service, he returned to Grand Rapids, Minnesota where he worked many years at the Blandin Paper Company where he retired.
Gary loved trapping, hunting, traveling, being with his grandchildren and being at the cabin.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by a daughter, Laurie (Kevin) Allen; a son, Gary (Rocky) Ehalt; his former wife, CloReon "Poochie" Ehalt; two sisters, Melrose "Mel" Van and Mary Troumbly Way; three brothers, Morris (Betty) Ehalt, Dwayne (Marilyn) Ehalt, Lloyd (Jill) Ehalt; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Gary died at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-G-18-09)
