Gary was a member of the DAV and a retired Civil Service employee. He was a member of May's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Dudley, North Carolina.
Gary is survived by his wife, the former Rose Cox; five sons, Douglas, Gary, Mark, Paul, and Silas; one daughter, Mrs. Rey (Pat) Ovalle; a sister, Lorene Larey; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Gary died in Wayne Memorial Hospital in Dudley, North Carolina and is buried in Wayne Memorial Park at Dudley, North Carolina.
