George's teaching career took him to Floodwood, Minnesota, Coleraine, Minnesota, Merced, California, Gilbert, Minnesota , Biwabik, Minnesota and in 1966 to Fort Frances High School, Ontario, Canada. He retired in 1989.
Since retirement, George spent many hours around the coffee table with his buddies at Sister Kennedy Center and countless hours at Rainycrest Home for the Aged. George was very generous with his time and shared his sense of humor with many. He was also an outspoken advocate for pro-life issues.
George married June Suomi on August 13, 1955 at Fort Frances, Ontario.
He is survived by his wife, June; his five sons, Daniel (Lynda), Mike (Dorothy), Mark (Ann Taylor), David, and George (Lori); one daughter, Mary Ann; seventeen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe (Carol), John (Gail), and Tom (Mary Clare); aunts, Anna Philips and Marion Barta; and many nieces and nephews.
George is buried at Fort Frances, Ontario.
