Shortly after graduation, Arch enlisted in the Army and honorably served during the Korean Conflict.

Arch excelled in sports and was quarterback and captain of his football team.
Following his service, he returned to his home state of Minnesota, where he began a lifetime career as a successful sales representative for everything from soup to nuts, literally.
He was a lifetime member and past commander of the Pengilly Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8831.
Arch traveled frequently and developed a lifetime passion for golf and a good time. He had a sociable personality and always loved a great party.
Along his journeys, he married Jarolyn Clark and had two daughters, Tracie Dill and Jennifer (Russ) Page.
In 1980, the family moved to Sterling, Illinois where he built a career as an agent of Lawson Products in Des Plaines, Illinois.
After retiring in 2005, he devoted summertime to golfing and winter to waiting for spring. Off the links, he enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren and his great-grandson.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers, Clarence (Evelyn) and Eldor; and his sister, Dorothy Martin.
Arch was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Judith Shipka; and his many golfing competitors and friends.
Arch died at his home in Sterling, Illinois and is buried in Riverside Cemetery at Sterling. No photo of grave marker is available at this time.
