George retired from the United States Army National Guard after 22 years of service.

George was united in marriage to Truella M. Cassity on July 23, 1966 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, where they made their home and raised three children.
George retired from Grand Itasca Medical Center after 41 years of employment.
George enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, working in his shop, and playing pool with his special friends and teammates.
He is preceded in death by his wife, infant son, parents, and a brother and sister.
George is survived by his children, Steven (Doris), Brian (Laura), and Melissa (Herschel) Wells; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandsons; brothers, sisters and special friend and companion, Charlie.
George died at his home and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. No photo of grave marker is available at this time.
