    George served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and then worked for the Air Force as a civilian ground transportation officer, first at Dover Air Force Base in Maryland and then in Minneapolis, Minnesota from 1955 until his retirement in 1987.

    George grew up and graduated from high school in Buffalo, Minnesota.

    He had lived for many years in Waconia, Minnesota and had lived in the Jacobson, Minnesota area since 1989.

    George was a member of Post 432, American Legion in Warba, Minnesota.

    He is survived by his wife, Audrie; two daughters, Cynthia Krotzer and Christine Krotzer; one son, Glenn Nielsen; three sisters, Shirley Thingvold, June Jones, and Mildred Glockzin; one brother, Russell; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    George died at his home. Burial of his cremains was at the DeVries' Family Homestead.
