    Gerald Bengston came to the Blackberry area in Itasca County, Minnesota to farm in 1921. He entered the United States Army in 1941 and served in the Pacific Theater where he saw widespread action and was wounded in the Okinawa campaign. He was discharged in 1945. Gerald was employed at West Hill and Tioga mines for the Western Mining Company after 1954.

    Military honors were provided by the VFW and American Legion. The Eagles provided an honorary escort.

    Survivors are three brothers, Alvin, Leonard, and Donald; three sisters, Mrs. W. Douglas, Mrs. Frank Gorsuch, and Mrs. William Dornig.
