Gerald married Lorraine Helewski in 1945 and they moved to the Cohasset, Minnesota area. He worked for fifteen years for Oliver Mining Company and then for ten years in the construction industry. Gerald also worked four years with the Community Work and Development Corporation in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. For the past twelve years he and his wife operated an adult foster home.
Gerald was a member of the Eagles Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Military Order of Cooties, Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He was a member of the Bovey Moose Club, Bovey, Minnesota.
Survivors are his wife, Sally; five daughters, Judy (Jim) Mundt, Shelley (Ken) Schwartz, Penny (Dan) O'Brien, Roxanne (Skip) Hanson and Shirley Wourms; three sons, Nick (Anita), Michael (Juli), and Joseph (Kathy); two sisters, Donna (Al) Doty and Maxine (Harley) Kiger; two brothers, Royal "Roy" and Terrance; twenty-seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerald died at Itasca Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Wildwood Cemetery at Cohasset, Minnesota. (Plot c45w22)
