    He was preceded in death by his wife, May, who died in 1981.

    Surviving are children, Patricia J. Jeffers and Barbara Ann Pearce; stepbrothers Harry M. Johnson and John J. Johnson; stepsister, Grace Lynch; and half-sister, Gloria Holcomb.

    Gilbert died in Mesquite, Texas and graveside services were held in Bonita Springs, Florida. He is buried in Naples Memorial Gardens Cemetery at North Naples, Florida. (Plot Devotion East)
