    Gordon was raised in Halden Township near Floodwood, Minnesota. He attended Floodwood School.

    Gordon was a past commander of Floodwood American Legion in Floodwood, Minnesota. He married Helen Ledstrom April 15, 1950. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 38 years retiring in 1975. He was former mayor of LaPrairie, Minnesota, a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ponti-Peterson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1720 of Grand Rapids, Minnesota and the Brotherhood of Railway Workers.

    Gordon is survived by his wife, sons Robert and Vernon, daughter Patricia Anderson, sisters Mildred Fendler and Olive Anderson, and one granddaughter.
