    Gustav was raised in the Frazee, Minnesota community.

    Following his discharge, Gustav came to the Grand Rapids, Minnesota area and in 1947, moved to Trout Lake Township in Itasca County.

    He worked for Cleveland Cliffs Mining Company from 1947 to 1977. He was a member of Ponti-Peterson Post 1720 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

    Gustav was preceded in death by two sons.

    He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Loren (Karen) Braford and Mrs. Arnold (Kathryn) Daniels; four sisters, Bertha Lemke, Helen Bartel, Mrs. Elwood (Adeline) Anderson, and Delores Rasico; six brothers, Henry, August, Herman, Fred, Adolph, and Ronald Kessler.

    Gustav died at Itasca Memorial Hospital and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery at Coleraine, Minnesota.
