    Harlan was a pilot in the Navy during World War II.

    After the war, Harlan worked for Northwest Airlines as a Mechanic, Flight Engineer and retired as a Pilot. His last plane was the 747 and his favorite flight of destination was Hawaii.

    Harlan had a strong faith and was an elder at Redemption Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Minnesota.

    Harlan is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores; a son, Keith (Ida); daughters, Joyanne (Rudy) Hamilton and Kimberly (Jeffrey) Voigt; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Meta Knauf of Pengilly, Minnesota.

    Harlan died in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and is buried in Dawn Valley Memorial Park at Bloomington, Minnesota.
