    Harold was raised in Yankton, South Dakota.

    In 1932, he married Dorothy Peterson.

    Harold moved to the Deer River, Minnesota area in 1941, where he farmed, trapped and worked in the woods as a logger.

    After the war, he returned to Deer River, Minnesota. In 1951, he moved to Wawina, Minnesota and worked for Tioga and West Hill Mines until 1951. He then worked for Superwood Company in Floodwood, Minnesota until 1985.

    Harold was a member of the Ponti-Peterson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

    He is survived by daughters, Dorothy Nuorala, Elizabeth Nix, Bernice Johnson, Carol Whirley, and Barb Johnson; sons, Harold, Jr., and Edward; twenty-five grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

    He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in 1985.

    Harold died at Itasca Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Wawina Cemetery at Wawina, Minnesota.
